Sign in with your Microsoft or Google account

If your school board uses Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace and has turned it on with us, you enter LinoClass with that account. There is no LinoClass password to remember. The account is the same one as your work email.

  1. Open app.linoclass.ca. Tap "Teacher".
  2. Under the "Teacher sign in" form, after the word "or", tap "Continue with Microsoft" or "Continue with Google". Only the buttons turned on for LinoClass appear; there may be only one.
  3. Choose your work account on the Microsoft or Google page, then confirm. You land on your dashboard.

The same buttons sit under "Teacher registration", the "Create my account" view, and on the page where a colleague invites you into her class. From the invitation, the sign-in brings you back to the invitation, not to the dashboard.

The button identifies you with your work account. If a LinoClass account already exists at that address, you enter it, with your classes. If your school board asked for accounts to be created automatically, your account is created on the spot at the first sign-in, and LinoClass guides you to your first class.

The first sign-in

The "Create your class" page opens. It has two steps: "Your name" and "Your class". "Choose your plan" is never there; "Your school" is not there when your school board has only one school, otherwise you pick it from the list. Your school board pays the subscription for you. So you see no price and no payment page.

  1. Under "Your name", the field is already filled with the name your organisation passed on. If it passed none, LinoClass suggests one from your email address. Correct it if you want; it is the name parents will see.
  2. Tap "Continue".
  3. Under "Your class", type the name of your class.
  4. Tap "Create my class". You land on your dashboard.

If the class is not created, a message appears in a box above the button. Tap "Create my class" again.

You can change the name later in "My account", under "Profile". The page Find your settings in "My account" describes it.

Your LinoClass email and password keep working if you have them. The form stays above the buttons.

When the sign-in is refused

LinoClass opens a page with a message, a "Try again" button and the "Need help?" line with support@linoclass.ca. The message says what happened.

  • "This organisation is not allowed": "The account you used belongs to an organisation we have not enabled yet, or is not an organisation account. If your school board has just set LinoClass up, write to us and we will add it." A personal account, such as a gmail.com or outlook.com address, gives this message: it belongs to no organisation. Start again with your work account. If you already used it, your school board is not turned on yet.
  • "No account under that name": "Your sign-in worked, but no LinoClass account exists for that address. An account has to be created for you first. Ask whoever manages LinoClass at your school." This means your school board is turned on, but automatic account creation is not.
  • "No email address": your organisation sent no email address for this account. Write to us with your organisation's name.
  • "Sign-in failed": "Something went wrong. Try again, and write to us if it keeps happening."

None of these messages means your classes are gone.

In the iPhone or iPad app

In the app, these refusals do not leave you on an error page. The sign-in sheet closes and the app opens "Teacher sign in". The message sits in a red box under the password field.

  • If your organisation is not turned on, or no LinoClass account exists at that address, the message says the account belongs to an organisation LinoClass has not enabled yet. Ask your school to write to support@linoclass.ca, or sign in with your email and password.
  • If your organisation sent no email address, the message says we cannot sign you in with this account. Use your email and password.

For "Sign-in failed", the page with "Try again" opens in the sheet, as on the website.

For the person who manages LinoClass at the school board

The buttons work for a school board we have registered. Registration happens on our side, on request. Email support@linoclass.ca with the name of the school board and the provider (Microsoft or Google).

For Google, only Google Workspace accounts from an organisation that owns its domain are accepted. A personal Gmail account is always refused.

Frequently asked questions

The "Continue with Google" button is not there.

A button appears only when that provider is turned on for LinoClass. Reload the page. If it is still missing, that provider is not turned on for now; use the other button, or your email and password.

A LinoClass account with a password already exists at that address.

If the address is the same, the button takes you into that account, with your classes. Your password stays valid.

Can a personal Google account be used?

No. A personal account belongs to no organisation and gives "This organisation is not allowed". Use your work account, or your email and password.

Does the button exist in the iPad app?

In the app, tap "Continue with Microsoft" under the form; the website's sign-in page opens in a sheet, with the buttons that are turned on. If the sign-in is refused, you come back to the app with the message under the form.
