Browse the class portfolios

The "Portfolios" page shows the work of the whole class, newest first. You open it with "Portfolio" in the menu. Every tile carries the child's first name and the date. A written observation shows as a text tile: the title, or the first line of the text, then the opening of the text.

Find a piece of work

Above the grid, one bar holds the search field and three pills: "Dates", "Types" and "Domains". Under it, a row of student chips. On a phone, both rows slide sideways under your finger.

  1. Type a first name in "Search by name..." to keep only that child's work.
  2. Tap "Dates", then "Today", "Last 7 days", "Last 30 days", "This month" or "All". The pill takes the name of the chosen period, for example "Last 7 days". "All" returns it to "Dates".
  3. Tap "Types", then "Photo", "Video", "Audio", "Drawing" or "Note". You can tick several. The pill shows the chosen type, or how many. "Clear", at the foot of the list, removes that filter. Ticking all five types is the same as ticking none.
  4. Tap "Domains", if the class has developmental domains. The domains show as a list, each in full with its colour dot. The class's own labels follow, under "Class labels". Tick one or more. The pill shows the domain's name when it is short, otherwise how many, for example "1 domain", with the colour dots. "Clear", at the foot of the list, removes that filter. The page Tag work with the developmental domains explains how to turn them on.
  5. In the row below, tap one or more student chips. "All students" brings the whole class back.

An active pill turns dark. The line under the filters counts the items on screen. It adds "(filtered)" as soon as a filter is chosen, and "and more may still be loading" when pages remain and you filter by several students, several types, a period or a name. Next to the count, "Clear all" resets every filter at once.

If "Domains" is not in the bar, the class has no active domain.

When the grid is empty

LinoClass loads work 100 items at a time. Two different messages can replace the grid, and they do not mean the same thing.

"No items found", with "Try changing your filters, or add some content", means nothing matches your filters. Tap "Clear all", next to the count, to get the whole class back.

"Nothing to show yet", with "More items have not been loaded yet and could match this filter.", means LinoClass has not received the whole class yet. Tap "Load more". The work you are after is often on the next page. The same reminder shows under a grid that already has tiles, with "and more may still be loading" on the count line.

Open a piece of work

Tap a tile. The work's page shows the photo, drawing, video or text large, and a panel with the child's name, the type, the date and who added it. The "Back" button at the top left returns you to the grid.

On that panel, you can:

  • approve work that carries "Awaiting approval". Tap "Approve". The item moves to "Approved and shared with the parents". The page Add work to a student's portfolio describes that step;
  • tag the work with developmental domains, when the class has any;
  • write a comment in "Add a comment…". The family sees it with the work. The "Record a voice message" mic buttonPro plan only records a spoken comment. On the free plan, that mic button is absent. If LinoClass refuses a recording, it shows "Voice messages are part of Pro. Written comments stay free."

Delete a piece of work

  1. Open the work.
  2. Tap the "Delete" bin at the top right.
  3. Read the "Delete this item?" dialog. It says "This cannot be undone. The preserved versions of the student's work will be deleted too."
  4. Tap "Delete".

There is no bin to bring it back from. If LinoClass shows "The deletion failed. Please try again.", the work is still there. Check the connection, then go back to step 2.

Frequently asked questions

The search by first name finds nothing.

The search looks at the first and last name as written in "My students". Check the spelling on the child's card. If the grid says "Nothing to show yet", tap "Load more".

A child has a lot of work. Is there a page just for that child?

Yes. Open "My students" and tap the card. The page Follow a student through the year describes that view, with its weeks and its domains.

What is "Select" at the top of the page for?

For ticking several pieces of work to add or remove domains in one go. The page Tag work with the developmental domains walks through it. Tap "Done" to return to the normal grid.
